I am beginning to wonder if we will ever see the ground again. I love the snow and the moisture, but about this time every year I start to get weary of it. However I have enjoyed all my family sessions in the snow. These kids were so cute and such great troopers in the cold and snow.

So I had a short getaway this weekend, yup just me, no hubby or kiddos. I was able to go visit my two sisters and a former college roomate in Arizona where it was 80 degrees! Sun, no haze, it was beautiful. I got to hang out with my sisiters and then I got to meet up with my former college roomate who I hadn't seen since my wedding 15 years ago. So I found these old pictures, wow life flies by fast! Enjoy a blast from my past...

Photographer get together- Cute models

Last week a group of us who attended a photographer workshop together went and did a photo shoot. I was lucky that two cute sisters I know offered to come along in the cold and model for the photogs. Here is some of miss "S" - more to come of her sister. Oh and here is a peek at my new logo and business name. Tell me what you think? (ok ignore that my logo is partly cutoff, I saved the image as to big) Hopefully the new blog will be up sometime next week!

A big blog slacker

I'll admit I have been a slacker! But it has been so nice to have a little break and kinda get caught up. I have a ton of exciting things coming in 2009, including a new business name, new blog, and website. ( I guess I haven't really taken that much of a break:) Here are a few shots from the past two weeks. As you can see we have had a TON of snow in Utah and TONS of boys who came to hang out in our backyard.

These next two pics of "M" crack me up. Age 5 is the best, he was totally touched by the magic of Christmas. He got so excited over his gifts (even the pack of trading cards Rudolph left behind) The best was on xmas eve night when we were coming home from Grandma's and we turned down our street to see Santa himself walking down the middle of the street. "M" saw him and told Blaine to drive fast so he could get home and get to bed because Santa was already in our neighborhood. He was in bed in less than 5 minutes!

The older boys received air soft guns (glorified bb guns) for xmas. Aren't they scary?

I have been very blessed to be surrounded by an amazing family. I grew up with many talented family members. I had sisters and cousins who have played collegiate sports...me I am not so athletic. I have one cousin who is about to graduate from Oregon State Univ while being a star volleyball player, she has a great story-read it here I think here story will inspire others. Way to go Ashley!

Ok so I get this question often...how do you do it all? Well my secret is my assistant :) He is one, does not like to sleep, ignores TV but loves music, and makes me laugh. Here are some pics of him "assisting" me.

He is great at emptying trash bins no matter how high.
He can make a photo copy

He can block anything on the Internet

He does windows

also toilets (yes we sanitized after this)

he will re organize your sippy cup drawer

He can get his own snacks

The best thing is he can do ALL these things in less than 10 minutes- he is very fast! Ok there my secret is out, so to all you moms out there- get an assistant! wink :)

Help Baby Mia

This came across my desk this morning and I had to do something to help this baby girl. Have the Kleenex ready when you read the blog. How often do we take our children's health for granted- I know I do.

This is Mia's story.
Mia has been patiently holding on for the past 3 months. But, she's one of 8 babies in the Seattle Children's Hospital on the Washington waiting list. In order to put Mia on other waiting lists, the McDonalds need $450,000.00 up front for the heart transplant. Sadly their insurance is falling short of paying for the surgeries and health care Mia has already received.

Please help out in anyway you can. Every dollar helps.

My heart aches for this family, and I just cry every time I read a new post on their family blog.

Happy Halloween to everyone. We had a great, very long day. Here are a few highlights.

in my opinion the cutest little vampire -ever!

one nerd, one banana, one army dude, and one vampire- how different are these boys?

baby "M" wanted nothing to do with the halloween celebrations. He had the cutest lion costume and this was as close as we got to wearing it. He ended up trick or treating in sweats. Yep, by kid number 5 you don't care.

Amazing High School Senior

A little mom brag time..

Ok so I realized the other day that I need to update friends and family more frequently on what we are up to. It seems like just yesterday when the boys started another year of school- but it has been over two months. So here is part one of an update and a little bragging on my part- I will update on the other two boys when I get some more photos of them edited.

First one funny thing that J (our 8yr old) said. He was asked to say the prayer before dinner. Blaine was gone at a church appointment (this happens quite often as part of his calling as a LDS Bishop for our church) In the prayer J says "please bless dad ... (long pause) where ever he is."
So goes our life.

Brag time,
Baby "M" figured out where his tummy is this week. I know this might not be big. But when he is your last baby you want to take in and celebrate every first in their life. One of these days I hope to brag that he finally sleeps through the night, not yet-ugh

Big "N" is currently playing two different instruments in two different bands at the Jr. High. He even achieved being named first chair clarinet. However I only have pics of him playing his sax because that is the "cool" instrument. He also has a part in the school play, Romeo and Juliet.

Ok, now a little brag time for not only our 11 yr old, but a whole group of 11 yr olds. "T" plays for a club soccer team- Champions FC. These boys trained all summer and fall together and have had a great fall season. They play in the Premier division ( the top division in State play). Over the past two weeks they have played in the state tournament. This week, after winning all their prelim games, they won the quarter final game in overtime and sadly loss in the semi finals 3-1. They are such a great group of boys and have worked so hard to get that far in the tournament.

"T" plays goalie, and if the team is up by enough points he gets to come out and play in the field.

Way to go boys! #00 - he is a keeper!

So on Friday afternoon I get a call from a photog friend of mine who says hey come do this senior shoot with me. So I said sure, yet thinking how am I going to squeeze it in with all my goings on that evening. Well I joined her for part of the shoot for about 45 minutes- I am so glad I did. Mr. S was an amazing cute boy that was so easy to take photos of. Plus it was fun to hang out and shoot with my friend, thanks Steph.

...at 6:15 last night I get a text, "he's out" My boys all yell "yeah, another boy cousin!" My sister Kelli had her second child yesterday. One of my other sisters, Jen, and I made a late night visit to the hospital to see our new nephew. I love new newborns so fresh from above, you know they know so much more than we do and seem so wise those first few hours after birth, if they could only talk. We had a great visit and we tried to keep down the noise, but you know when those Evans sisters get together things get a little loud:) Warning this is a long post... enjoy the sweetness!

When you deliver after dinner the hospital doesn't give you much to eat, so we brought up my form of nutrition- chocolate shakes! As you can see they were quickly gone.

Urban boy

On Saturday I attempted the impossible- trying to get photos of all of the boys together in one photo for our Christmas card- not sure if I got one. But I did get some cute ones of the boys by themselves. My photog friend Jess came along and we took some of her kids as well. I will post more later. I love collaberating with other photographers- there are so many great ones in Utah! Here are a couple of 5 year old M, he totally cheeses up for my camera. Love the urban style.

Goodbye Summer

This past Monday was Labor Day and the unofficial end to summer. Here in Utah it was cold and a harsh reminder summer has come to an end. So here is a list of our goodbyes..

Down and Derby

It was pinewood derby time for our cub scouts. It was also T's last pack meeting as he is now 11 and moving into boy scouts. This was the last time we would have two boys in cubs, thus the last time Blaine had to help build two pinewood derby cars. There were 2o cub scouts and their families, so it was pretty loud and crazy.

The dads making sure every car was lined up correctly.

T took 3rd place and J took 7th place- way to go boys. T also received his arrow of light award that evening.

...to go back to school! This week not only did the older boys go back, but my 5 year old the kindergartner (is that a word) also started. So four of the five are in school. It is a little quiet around here and baby M is searching the house for his brothers.

Ok for you moms who do not have teens - just a warning- the cuteness of a 5 year old turns into...
an attitude of an 8th grader- you know what he is thinking "my mom is the biggest dork"
oh look we caught a glimpse of a smile- I think I mentioned a girls name and he cracked a smile.
A big shout out to all the moms who survived another summer- it was great for the first 6 weeks, but by the last two weeks of summer weren't we all ready to send them back :)

Last night my husband and I were sitting in the family room. I said to him,‘I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine,and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive. That would be no quality of life at all. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.’

So he got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my diet coke.

Elase Models...My first commercial shoot

Saturday I did my first real commercial photo session for Elase Medical Spas. We were getting photos for them to use in ads for their non surgical lipo service. I took pictures of this cute family from Cedar Hills. The mom is the best preschool teacher ever! Baby M turned 1 two weeks ago, but he was sick with the stomach flu and probably not in the mood for a photo shoot. So today was the first day in two weeks that he actually woke up in a good mood- so here is what we did this morning. Oh and I have to introduce my new baby (no not a human baby - 5 boys is enough :) My new Cannon 40 D - yes I finally upgraded my camera-love it! Ok so which photo is your favorite?

Where in the world?

Where have I been? Our family has been hit with a very very bad stomach virus.
Here is a look at the last 8 days..
# of people sick in our family 6 (out of 7 - hubby lucked out)
# of times I rotated through all my crib sheets - 3
# of doctor visits - 5 (really you do not want to catch this)
# of days I needed help from my mother in law - 2 (thanks Kay :)
# of 1 liters of Gatorade bought over the last week - 10
# of hours since some one last threw up - 15 - and counting

Ok so that is why the blog has been neglected- I will be back to posting this week!

BTW- what do you think of the new look of the blog? don't know if I am lovin' it-

Yellowstone- Great National Park

We just got back from a vacation in Island Park Idaho and Yellowstone Park. Although
baby M did not like all the driving or trying to sleep some where other than his crib, we all had a great time. We love visiting Yellowstone, so many things in one park. There was 28 of us that stayed in one large cabin, the cousins had so much fun hanging out together. Thanks Kay and Brent for putting this together.

Boys and Sports

These are some posters I have done for the boys. J worked so hard at baseball this season and his poster shows the last out of the last regular season game. What I love about this picture is coach Mike's excitement when they made the out.
T had a great soccer year. He played on two comp teams and either played goalie or center defense. I love his work ethic, he and his dad have gotten up almost every morning this summer and gone and worked out, this in addition to training and camps. What is even better is seeing the great friendships he has formed on his teams. He plays with the best group of boys.

I had the pleasure of taking photos of my neighbor's daughter. The clothes came from another talented neighbor who makes most of these clothes, I keep telling her she needs her own clothing store. Miss M was so cooperative and up for anything. Thanks Whitney for sharing your cute girl with me- you know I am so jealous since i only have boys.

I am pleased to announce that Sky Photo and Design will now offer storyboards. Storyboards are a great way to show off many photos. Here is a look at some of the storyboards- I am trying to re do my website so one of my galleries will include only storyboards. They are either 10x20, 8x10, oe 11x14. Boys of Summer

OK it is not summer around here or even close to spring- could we please get some non-windy warm days? Opening day of baseball was this week. My J is so excited, he loves the dirt, his friends, and a great game. It is so fun to go to the games and visit with friends and watch all the silly things our boys do. Boys are to fun!

My new favorite wall

#3 is baptized

Last Saturday was a great day. Our third boy "J" was baptized. In our church when a child turns 8 they can choose to be baptized. This is a big step for the child and deserves family, friends, and food. It was a wonderful day for a wonderful kid! Thanks to everyone who made the effort to be there with "J" Here is a look at his baptism announcement- I took his name off of the top, so that is why there is a blank space there.

Again time has gotten away from me and I realized I had not posted in a while. I have been out of town for some R and R and I have been busy with photo sessions. Here is a session I did today for a cute girl who is turning 5. We did some "urban" photos in downtown AF and at the American Fork Tabernacle. Thanks Jill for sharing your darling girl.

Before and After Book for Elase Medical Spa

I have been doing some work for Elase Medical Spas. They are based here in Utah and have other locations in Florida. Their services include botox, laser hair removal, lip fillers, skin resurfacing. I love their new Draper location, their friendly staff, and the feeling in their spas.

One of the projects I am doing for them is designing a custom before and after book. This will be a hardbound coffe table book with before and afters of all their services. They will be able to have numerous copies of this book at all their locations. I have interest from dentist and orthodontists about doing similar books. Each book for each client will be unique with their branding, fonts, and colors related to their business. Almost on a daily basis things happen in the house of boys, that make me say "A- Ha! this is how you know you are raising boys." (some day I want to turn all these "A-Ha's" into a book) this moment I have titled ...

"W" stands for weapon

My preschooler had to find something that started with "W" for the sound box at his preschool. I suggested a "w"aterbottle. Oh no that would not do because the word "w"eapon starts with "w"-

Yes he wanted to take a weapon to school. So we settled on the weapon that looked least like it could harm anyone. He took his rainbow colored light saber. Here is a picture I posted a while ago of him fighting off all the imaginary bad guys in our yard with his "w"eapon.

#4 starts soccer

our 4th boy has been so anxious to play soccer with his older brothers- well that finally happened two weeks ago. He loves it and loves being just like his brothers. We now have four boys on six different teams- augh!

I was able to shoot K and M's engagements last week. We had a blast

in downtown AF, the old star mill, and Sundance. They were good sports

It is Great to be 8!

My number 3 turned 8 yesterday. It has been two days of celebration. He is an awesome kid,
who loves to be friends with EVERYBODY and loves to play sports.

On Monday he had his party with all his friends.
After cake and ice cream we went to a gym for dodge ball, soccer, and basketball.
It was loud and crazy!
The next day (his actual bday) we celebrated with our family and Grandma. It is now a tradition that my oldest plays happy birthday on the clarinet to the birthday boy. It is also tradition that they get two cakes, one with friends and the other with the family. Usually I am lazy and buy both cakes. This year I thought I would make the family cake. Well that was not a wise decision for a sleep deprived mom of 5 boys.
I made the cake and had put parchment paper in the pan so the layers did not stick. I took them out of the pan to cool and left the parchment paper on so they would not dry out. Later that afternoon I went to frost the cake and the frosting went on surprisingly smooth. When we went to cut the cake the it was hard to cut through and all the frosting came off in one layer. Oh look, I left the parchment paper on and had frosted right over it. We had to take the cake apart and get all the paper out before we could serve it. I will definitely buy a cake next year :

Sisters

Lately, I have been able to spend allot of time with my youngest sisters. Last week we went up to Sundance and took some pics. I love it up there- I wish I lived closer.

As you can tell my sisters got all the looks in the family- oh to be 19 again!

I love my clients

All my clients are wonderful, but this group of clients have been with me since
I started my business. I have taken photos of these children as newborns on up
to their school days. This was a group of 11 cousins and we were shooting in my small
studio (11 was definitely my studio's limit) They were giving the pics to their mom-aka Grandma - for her birthday. Even though it was a handful it was so much fun, and I fall in love
with these kids each time they come to me for photos. Happy Birthday Grandma B!

Indoor Soccer almost over

We have been so busy at our house, between my work schedule, the boys sports, and Blaine's church and work responsibilities- it gets crazy. Oh and we have had an extra boy staying with us (read below) and my sister needed to stay with us temporarily. Well my sister and exchange student have moved out and indoor soccer has come to an end with a two week break before outdoor season starts. My Ty improved so much over the indoor season, he usually plays goalie or defense, but this season they needed him to play offense. He was able to score a couple of gorgeous goals for our team. He works so hard practicing it is fun to see him improve. Go Champions!

Good Bye Sung Chul

For the past three months we have had a korean foreign exchange student staying with us. He just became such a part of our family, just another boy added to the mix :) We called him "our brother from another mother" Ty and Sung Chul became extremely close and have started emailing. Tyler wants to go to South Korea so bad, but this mom could not send her child oversees. We are hoping Ty will be called to serve a Korean mission and then he could go baptize Sung Chul. Good Bye friend we will miss you!

So yesterday morning I am doing dishes and look out my window to see my fourth boy taking on the universe with his rainbow light saber and rainbow backpack before preschool. I love four year olds and their imagination! He makes me laugh everyday.

Ok we officially have our first teenager in the house-and this is how I know
1. he reached the "official" age of 13
2. he asks his mom to drop him off at the corner and he will walk the rest of the way (I am so embarrasing in my red mini van)
3. He gets more phone calls at night than I do
4. You open his bedroom door and it smells like Axe Body Spray
5. Lastly, you spend thousands of dollars on braces only to hear them whine about how bad they hurt. But isn't he so cute in braces. (He had to get them in BYU blue of course)
Augh- I am a mom of a teenager!

The baby was having none of it, so we did what we could, but her 4 year old loved having pictures taken just of him. My Joys...

I only have two of my five boys who are home with me during the day. They all grow up so fast.

I am so blessed to be able to stay home with "my guys" we have fun "hanging together" They truely are the joys of my life.

Great Weekend?

We took advantage of the long weekend and went up to my brother-in law's cabin. We didn't quite caculate how much work this would be with 6 boys- augh! (Take note of our survival kit- Tylenol for all ages and lots of Coke Zero). We still had fun sledding, snowmobiling, and watching lots of movies with the boys. Our oldest N was a huge help with the younger boys and it was so nice to get away from email, cell phones, and other obligations. However we did come home with a four yr old with a stomach virus and a baby with RSV, but we also came home with some great memories! Thanks Uncle Boyd for sharing your cabin.
